O Lord, be gracious to my humble cry,
be my salvation from distress,
my sure foundation and my strength each morn—
in godly fear I long for you, my God.

The land that mourns in time will laugh again,
the desert parched will fill with springs,
the wilderness, rejoice and burst in bloom—
and there will be a highway there.

It is a highway of holiness, it is the glory of the Lord,
and the righteous will walk upon it and be blessed—
on it the ransomed and the redeemed shall return.

His plumb line tells of desolation
for those who never knew our God
The high and mighty will have nothing left,
their citadels the jackal's haunt, the owl's home.
